Reaching The Goal

PRESS RELEASE
January 25, 2007

The Early Education Partnership is $120,000 closer to reaching its goal today thanks to an investment from Jeld-Wen. Scott Pease, new General Manager for Jeld-Wen and father of two young children, said: “I understand fully the critical importance of having high quality early care and education services for working families. My wife is a teacher and we have two preschool age children. I look forward to a long and beneficial relationship with the Early Education Partnership for my family and for the families who work at Jeld-Wen.”

The Jeld-Wen Foundation supports building projects that are in close proximity to their production facilities and provide services that will benefit their employees.

This new Early Childhood Learning Facility will be 1.3 miles from Jeld-Wen in the Cheyenne Business Park. Employers in the Business Park will certainly benefit from this high quality facility providing early care and education at non-traditional hours and on an hourly basis.

“We receive calls weekly from families who are struggling trying to manage work/family issues,” said Cheryl Selby, Project Manager for the Early Education Partnership. “Our research shows that families want high quality care, at the times they need it, especially for infants and toddlers. And, we look forward to this opportunity to serve the businesses, the families, and Laramie County as we move forward with this important project.”

What is the Early Education Partnership?

EEP is a nonprofit partnership among businesses, community organizations, educators and other early childhood supporters to create and sustain a state-of-the-art early care and education facility to meet the demands of a changing workforce. An 18-hour, six-day-per-week facility, staffed by trained and degreed professionals, will assure the kindergarten readiness of its young charges. EEP will provide higher education professional development opportunities to assure the quality of its workforce, as well as provide internships for college-level students of early childhood education.
